Cherry Pickers Not Just For Picking Cherries
This construction equipment information sponsored by Volvo Rents of Oklahoma City, OK - The Boom Lift Rental Oklahoma City OK Experts.
The cherry picker, also called boom lifts or aerial lift, is a type of elevating lift that contains a platform or a bucket attached to a hydraulic lifting system. Cherry pickers can be mounted on the back of a truck, a flat back pick-up truck, a stand-alone trailer, or a self-moving platform. This bucket is designed for a person to stand in and work from, and there are often controls in the bucket enabling the worker to control the position of the lift.
This aerial equipment derived its interesting name from its first widespread implementation. Cherry pickers were originally designed for use in orchards. While they are still heavily used in orchards, they are also used in many other environments. They are used to service telephone, cable, and electrical equipment on utility poles. Aerial Lifts are also used for home improvement projects, landscaping jobs, and to hang Christmas light displays or banners. Firetrucks sometimes use them in place of a ladder.
